Follow and a Hop Friday (7)

Happy Friday! I'm back from vacation (although about to go on a camping trip for vaca #2) and thought it'd be fun to do another FF and Blog Hop Friday since I missed last week. I may be late to respond to peeps, but I will get back to you when I can. I hope everyone is having a fantastic summer!

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee's View!

This week's FF question comes from Erika @ Let's talk about books:

Q.  ACK! Your favorite book/movie character (example Hermione Granger played by Emma chick) just walked into the room! Who is it and what would be your first reaction? You get extra points if you include visual simulation.

A.  Hmm... this is kind of hard for me. I'm not really a fan girly type. I've met some of my idols (not actors/media celebrities) and discovered that they have flaws and put their pants on like everyone else... so I don't get super excited about sightings and what not. OK, thinking... Oh, I have a good one to share, though I wouldn't say he's my favorite book/movie character. Let's just say that the character obviously left an impression. I read the books Jurassic Park and The Lost World by Michael Crichton when I was in High School - a long long time ago, over 10 years ago, and I still have reoccurring dreams (maybe once a year) that star Dr. Ian Malcom (played by Jeff Goldblum). I dream that we have these deep philosophical conversations about chaos theory and the ethics of bringing back dinosaurs. I'm not joking. OK. You can stop laughing now! Anyway... I think if he walked into the room I'd immediately flush and not be able to get out out an intelligible sentence without making a mess of it. *sigh*

Q.  What keeps you reading beyond the first few pages of a book, and what makes you want to stop reading a book and put it back on the shelf?

A.  I rarely, if ever, put down a book and not finish it. I feel like I can't judge a book unless I've read it entirely. Things that would cause me to put down a book: a main character that disgusts me and doesn't seem appropriate to the story, or when an author is close-minded and writes with an obvious agenda. Though just because an author has strong opinions that oppose my own, doesn't mean I wouldn't finish the book. Actually, I usually want to finish unless I just think it's over the top and inappropriate.

These were great questions! I look forward to hopping around and seeing everyone's answers. Alrighty, time to work on some book reviews. If you follow, please leave a comment with a link so I can check out your blog as well. Have a great weekend and happy 4th of July!

This week's FF question comes froRhiannon Paille:

The Hunger GamesQ.  Genre Wars! What's your favorite genre and which book in that genre made it your favorite?

A.  This is kind of hard to answer because I enjoy many different genres. I'd say my favorite of the moment is dystopian, and the book that sucked me in is The Hunger Games!

Q.  How many books are currently in your To-Be-Read (TBR) Pile?
A.  According to Goodreads my TBR pile is currently at 239 and it grows every day! Augh, craziness. I hope to get to them ALL but it's a bit overwhelming to think about :).

OK, off to discover new blogs and peeps! If you follow, please leave a comment with a link so I can check out your blog as well.

Q.  Who is the one author that you are dying to meet?

A.
Argh... only ONE?! I have a list of at least five... At the moment I'm going to say Maggie Stiefvater because she just cracks me up, and she is so multi talented. I'd love to meet up for lunch then afterwords we could work on a stop-motion video, do some painting, or jam on some musical instruments together :).

This week's FF question comes from Amy at BackseatReader:

Q.  What are you doing to prepare for an upcoming zombie apocalypse and/or the return of Mel Gibson to the silver screen? (Both of which could be terrifying.)

A. Well first, I'm going to make friends with peeps that have a "Zombie Proof House", pack up all my gadgets (kindle, nook, laptop, iPhone, with solar chargers), books, and necessities and move into their house while we build our own during daylight hours. :)

Q.  Share your favorite post from the past month and tell us why it's close to your heart.

A.
My favorite post would have to be my review of Delirium by Lauren Oliver. I've read and reviewed a few favorites recently but Delirium really got to me, I love it.

A Follow and a Hop Friday (3)

Hi peeps! It's been a crazy fun week since I've been participating in Armchair BEA, but I couldn't resist  another Follow and Hop Friday (let's ignore that this is posted Thurs night)! The goal of FF and Blogger Hop is to discover new blogs and friends. Welcome :).

This week's FF question comes from Louise at Book Bliss:

Q.  How many books do you read in a week? And in what format do you read them, or listen to them.

A. I usually read or listen to 2 to 4 books a week, depending on what's going on that week. I'm usually reading a library book or an ebook (kindle or ePub on my laptop) and listening to a book at the same time. It's rare that I'll be in the middle of too physical/ebooks at the same time though.

This week's Hop question came from Britta at I Like These Books:

    Q.  What book-to-movie adaptation have you most liked? Which have you disliked?
    A.
The first question is easy... Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows! I thought it was fantastic! Granted, I watched the movie long after I read the book - on purpose. I learned my lesson by re-reading Prisoner of Azkaban right before the movie released and I was so angry through the entire movie and compared it to the book. I didn't enjoy it because I was preoccupied with picking it apart. I think the book-to-movie adaptation I disliked the most would be Twilight... I know it had a limited film budget but it just didn't live up to the book. At all. Though I still bought it and after watching it 3 or 4 times I like it now?! It seems to get better the more you watch it.

Happy Hop and Follow Friday! I look forward to meeting new peeps!

    A Follow and a Hop Friday (2)

Hi peeps! It's another Follow and Hop Friday (OK, OK, so technically it's friday eve... I just wanted to post before going to bed...). The goal of FF and Blogger Hop is to discover new blogs and friends. So hello and welcome!

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee's View!

This week's FF question comes from Ninja Girl at Ninja Girl Reads:

    Q.  It's circle time. Time for us to open up and share. Can you tell us FIVE quirky habits or things about you? We all have them...

    A. Yikes! OK, here I go:
    1. I love sharks. Really! They're such a misunderstood species. I actually took a course on Shark Awareness and did two PADI shark dives in the Bahamas for a certification. I was thrilled and awed to have so many (13+) sharks swarming around us as we were kneeling on the ocean floor. I still have the shark tooth I found during one of the SCUBA dives.
    2. I'm determined that I WILL go into space one day. I'm saving my pennies.
    3. I once won an archery tournament at summer camp.
    4. I'm kind of known to have a Snow White complex, meaning, I believe that all animals love me. "Ohhh... look how cute the little bear is...", though I only observe and do not interfere, approach, or antagonize wild animals.
    5. I have a fear of dark windows, once the sun goes down I have to pull all the blinds/curtains to cover the windows. I don't like the idea of people being able to see in, when I can't see out.

This week's Hop question came from Ivan at Ivan Bookworm:

    Q.  If you were given the chance to spend one day in the fictional world (from a book), which book would it be from and what would that place be?

    A.  I had to think about this one for a while! My first thought was immediately Hogwarts in the Harry Potter series... but that seemed too easy. So... for one day... I would want to spend it at Hex Hall (from the Hex Hall series). I just think it'd be so awesome to hang out with witches/warlocks, shifters, vampires, ghosts, demons, and faeries for a while. I'd want to be a witch though!

Thank you to Parajunkee and Crazy for Books for hosting these link ups! These were great questions, and I'm looking forward to blog hopping to see how everyone answered :).

    Hops and Follows!

Hi peeps! I'm new to the book blogging world! Though I have some older posts that I imported from my general blog, I just started A Book and a Latte on Wednesday (May 11th)... and Blogger ate all my posts along with a few PAGES and gadgets :(. I have my fingers crossed that my YA reviews, WoW, and Thursday Trailer posts will magically reappear. I hope you follow me anyway, but please check back latter to see what my blog is really all about! This blog will primarily contain YA book reviews and discussions about YA television shows and movies. Hopefully in time I will be able to host author interviews and giveaways. Occasionally I'll throw in some adult fiction and book-ish news I feel like sharing :).

So... onto Hop and Follow Friday...

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee's View!

    Q. The Blogger Apocalypse made me a little emotional. What is the most emotional scene in a book that you have read lately?

    A. I'm currently listening to Delirium by Lauren Oliver on audiobook. I'm really, really enjoying it! I don't want to give anything away, but I think the most emotional scene so far is when Lena, the protagonist, observes how enforcers of the "cured" are detached from their humanity by the witnessing the violence.

    Q. Are you going to Book Expo America (BEA) this year and/or the Book Blogger Convention (BBC) this year?

    A. Unfortunately no... Maybe next year?!
