The Vampire Diaries: Season 2

HOLY CROW! I can't believe season 2 of TVD is over. I'm still reeling from the the season finale from Thursday... I'm still thinking about it! I mean really, can you believe all the stuff they crammed into the last few fantabulous episodes? I don't want to give too much away for people who aren't caught up or haven't started watching yet (uh, hellooo... what are you waiting for?!)... but holy smokes! Seriously, I think this is one of the best shows on television right now.

I can not wait for next season! I haven't read the book series yet, but it's on my summer to-do list. Gotta get my VD fix! Have you read them? If so, do you like them more or less than the TV show? I've heard mixed things and know the show is different from the books.

Let's discuss in the comments (spoiler warning for comments!).

OK so... I can't get over how many people died this season. And THEN Jeremy (he got real HOT real fast) comes back and can see dead people! I wonder if he's what Rose from the Vampire Academy series is... I wonder if there are bad side affects to whatever he's turned into. Seems creepy! Can't wait to see what they do with the show next season.

And... ELENA KISSED DAMON! On her own!

I can't wait to start reading the books this summer!

I knew there was a reason I was drawn to your blog! Haha. I LOVE the Vampire Diaries and season 2 has been such a whirlwind! Can you believe that in episode 1 Katherine had only just arrived in Mystic Falls and Caroline was still human?

I'm so excited for everything that happened in the finale and everything it sets up for next season. I'm glad Jeremy will finally be more involved in something supernatural, and I LOVE that they brought back Vicki and Anna. Anna is my fave. I'm also glad we're getting to see Stefan's dark side, especially paired with Klaus (and ESPECIALLY if they go after and find Katherine). The two (or three) of them together are going to be GREAT.

I was also thrilled about the Elena/Damon moments, though I have to admit that I'm a Delena shipper. I just think that Stefan and Elena are so BORING. They barely knew each other before they fell in love and their relationship just doesn't hold that much interest for me. I much prefer Elena/Damon and Stefan/Katherine. Which is why I think next season has so much potential.

As for the books, I've read the first 4, because I usually try to read novels first before watching whatever TV show or movie is based on them, but honestly I just didn't like the books so I didn't bother finish the series. They're completely different from the TV show, both in character personalities and in plot, and I think the show is a vast improvement. I don't want to color your experience reading them so I won't go into all the things I didn't like, but let me know what you think and we can talk about it! I haven't really talked to anyone who has both read the books and seen the show, so I'd love to discuss them.

Sorry for the length of this comment, this is one of those things that I can really get into! Obviously. :P

While I love both the show and the books, the show is SO much better. To be honest, I HATE the book characters (with an exception of Damon..but who could honestly hate him? ;)) For the most part the girls are all a bit too..whiny...I've NEVER hated a book character in the way I hate Elena. I started reading the books years ago when they were first published and loved them. When the show came about, I tried them again...I'm not sure if it's because of the show or the fact that I'm older now, but the girls really do bother me.

I've read all of the books that are currently out, because the books are much..wilder and out there than the TV show is. The storyline gets crazier and crazier as the books go on. If you can handle the characters (not many people I've talked to can. lol) the story is very fun, just because it is so out there.

Yay! So glad to have peeps to gush with about TVD! Andie- I can't believe all that happened this season! First - I love Caroline and Tyler together, and hope that develops next season. Second - I'm so glad Jeremy gets a roll in the paranormal world and he's NOT a vampire (I didn't want everyone to turn which is what it seemed like for a while). Third - I'm excited that characters being dead doesn't mean they're gone! I really like Anna too! Hmm... Stefan/Katherine would be interesting but I really hate Katherine, but maybe they'll turn her character around for me. I think Nina Dobrev does such an awesome job portraying both characters... AND she get to kiss them both! :). It will be fun/interesting to watch Stefan be a bad boy with Klaus (glad he joined the hotness party!). Ugh. I can't wait!

I'm a little hesitant to read the books now. Maybe if I go in with low expectations I'll like them more?

I love the character of Katherine, although obviously she's only been out for herself so far. I just think they can do so much with her, and Nina Dobrev is absolutely FANTASTIC. I also think we've seen glimpses of maybe a softer side (she did bring Damon the cure after all), so I'm just really interested to see where they go with her.

I'd definitely give the books a shot, even if it's just to find out for yourself that you don't like them. You never know, you might find them really entertaining.
